Fortune CP Supplies and Installs Solar Systems for Vodacom

Fortune CP Ltd has recently implemented solar powered BTS stations for Vodacom in Lesotho. Vodacom is a mobile phone service provider giant in Africa. Faced with increasing energy costs and maintenance difficulties of the diesel generator powered remote sites, Vodacom opted for the 3.9KW solar systems. The 3.9KW systems with a generator back-up, were designed, supplied, installed and commissioned by Fortune CP through its South African branch.

Solar hybrid solutions provide a competitive alternative to pure diesel systems that are increasingly under cost pressures due to fuel costs, frequent servicing requirements and problems associated with CO2 emissions. Depending on the application, Fortune CP’s systems can be configured with a mix of solar, wind, diesel and other power sources. The systems can also be fitted with remote monitoring and control features. Telecommunication applications include mobile networks, VSat stations, microwave, rural payphones, fiber optic repeaters, local exchanges and other remote applications.

Fortune CP is currently negotiating with other mobile telecommunication companies in Southern Africa to implement similar systems.
